Little Rock-based Dillard’s, Inc. has announced that it will distribute more than $1.6 million in grants to local Ronald McDonald House chapters.

The grants will support a number of initiatives at local RMHC chapters, including a program that provides a “home away from home” to families who have a child receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The grants were bankrolled by the sale of the Southern Living Christmas Cookbook at Dillard’s stores during the 2011 holiday season.

Since 1994, the company has donated more than $9.2 millionto RMHC. For the past four years, it has awarded grants using proceeds from the sale of its cookbook.

“Over the past seventeen years, Dillard’s has developed a strong and lasting bond with our local Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters,” said Dillard’s vice president Denise Mahaffy. “The work they do every day to bring comfort to children and families inspires us and makes the sale of the cookbooks an enormous source of pride and satisfaction.”
