I Live Here, I Give Here® announces a new program, AMPLIFY AUSTIN, an initiative to increase philanthropy in Central Texas through online giving with a goal of raising $1 million in a 24-hour period for hundreds of Central Texas nonprofits.
“We are thrilled to officially announce AMPLIFY AUSTIN,” said Patsy Woods Martin, Executive Director and Founder of I Live Here, I Give Here®. “The annual online giving day model has proven to be a success in a number of other cities around the nation. We spent months researching best practices and we’ve developed a program that fits Austin’s unique culture and will inspire our community to give $1 million in a 24-hour period.”
Donations for participating nonprofits will be collected through www.ilivehereigivehere.orgbeginning at 7:00 pm March 4, 2013 and will continue through 7:00 pm March 5, 2013. While I Live Here, I Give Here® can process donations for Central Texas nonprofits year round, only the donations made during the March 4th – 5th/ 24-hour window will be attributed to AMPLIFY AUSTIN.
“While philanthropy is essential year-round,AMPLIFY AUSTIN provides a 24-hour window for us to really come together as Austinites and show our support for the hundreds of nonprofit organizations that work tirelessly to improve our community,” said Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell.
To stay true to our live music roots, throughout the day randomly selected donors will win impromptu serenades from some of the city’s most cherished entertainers. Although only a handful of people can win the in-person performances, everyone who donates will receive an e-tribute from a surprise local musician.
I Live Here, I Give Here® is currently seeking $124,000 in donations to build an incentive pool for AMPLIFY AUSTIN day. $100,000 of the pool will be distributed on a pro rata basis to every nonprofit garnering over $100 in donations during AMPLIFY AUSTIN day. The remaining $24,000 will be distributed in $1,000 increments to match random donations each hour during AMPLIFY AUSTIN day. How Nonprofits Can Participate
To participate in AMPLIFY AUSTIN nonprofits must meet eligibility requirements and create a free profile on www.ilivehereigivehere.org. Enrollment is open until Friday, August 31st and participating nonprofits will be required to attend an introductory training before the deadline. We will offer a series of training seminars from June, 2012 – February, 2013.
