About 200 people attended the Feb. 25 eighth annual event held at the Tournament Players Club in Blaine.
“The students of Spring Lake Park School District are truly the winners as this money will go back to fund innovative projects and programs that will enrich their education,” said Colleen Pederson, director of community education.
Since 2004, the volunteer foundation has raised nearly half-a-million dollars for Spring Lake Park schools. The money has funded about 200 grants and special projects for students.
Among many initiatives, grants have improved at-risk learning literacy through technology, purchased classroom computer labs and such 21st century learning tools as classroom iPads and iPods.
In other projects, the foundation has funded backpacks for students in need and it has partnered with the Blaine/Ham Lake Rotary Club to provide dictionaries to third-grade students. Projects have paid for interactive whiteboards for primary schools, busing for after-school activities, library books and improvements to the district’s fine arts center.
The gala included a dinner, entertainment and live and silent auction.
